Meet Dr. Dennis Brickner

Dr. Dennis BricknerI just wish I had known then what I know now. I was a senior in college and running for the track team despite having a horrendous back condition. Even with this physical disability I still qualified for the Division III College National Track Championships. I did not place in the top five, but it is my belief that had I had my spinal condition corrected back then I would most likely have been a top three finisher in the sprint competitions. This is why I work so hard to inform others of the wonderful, life-changing benefits of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care.

You simply do not function your best if your spine and nerve system is not at its best.

EXPLORE CHIROPRACTIC

A Chiropractic Education

Dr. Brickner’s journey on the road to becoming a doctor of chiropractic began at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. In 1985, he graduated from Heidelberg with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. In 1989, he graduated cum laude and with research honors, being one of only six in his class who graduated with both honors.

Since graduation, he has completed over 300 hours of post-graduate study, with the majority of those hours being technique related to his chiropractic specialty of upper cervical NUCCA chiropractic. This technique is discussed in greater detail later. His research and studies remain current to provide ongoing state-of-the-art NUCCA chiropractic care.

3d model of a spineWhen he’s asked why he likes being a doctor of chiropractic, his compassionate reply is rather lengthy. “I like being a D.C. because I get to see…

  • A 21-year old get relief from menstrual cramps which she has experienced all of her adult life. She now enjoys every day in the month instead of 25 or 26 of them.
  • A 45-year old man resume one of the things he dearly loves in life, black belt karate training, after correction from a disc herniation.
  • A 2-year old get relief from ear infections without having tubes put in his ears.
  • A woman relieved of migraine headaches, who was then able to stop taking three to five prescription drugs daily and begin to once again enjoy seeing the sun come up in the morning.
  • An autistic child calm down and begin learning in greater capacity than ever before.
  • A 40-year old man who received a neck whiplash in a car accident be able to turn his head again and go back to work.
  • A 4-year old run, whose coordination was previously challenged due to a great degree of spinal imbalance.

I also like being a D.C. because I get the honor of…

  • Teaching people how to take care of their bodies.
  • Giving lectures throughout my community on health and nutrition.
  • Being a part of watching the body heal as God intended it to without drugs and surgery.
  • Getting paid for something I love to do.

Dr. Brickner’s keys to a healthy and well balanced lifestyle include…

  • Exercise
  • Sleep
  • Drinking adequate amounts of water
  • Eating real food, not fake food
  • Good attitude
  • Prayer
  • Obedience

  • Determination
  • Work

His approach to spinal care involves utilizing Upper Cervical NUCCA and QSM Chiropractic Care. The National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) and Quantum Spinal Mechanics (QSM) embodies chiropractic professionals with a specific specialty within the chiropractic profession. The purpose of this spinal corrective approach is to reposition the head over the center of the neck in order to remove brain stem compression and restore body balance. This repositioning reactivates the transmission of healing messages from the brain to the affected part of the body so the body’s natural healing process can begin.

Body balance is extremely important! When the weight of the head is shifted off center, the body becomes imbalanced to compensate for the change. In an effort to keep the head centered over the neck, the spine and pelvis will twist, causing one leg to shorten. This imbalance can cause stress, tension and pressure around the brain stem.

Our brain operates a “telephone exchange” of sorts that shuttles millions of messages per second back and forth to all parts of the body. These messages govern the thousands of functions that keep our body operational. We don’t consciously know that these messages exist, but the heart continues to pump blood, the lungs continue to breath air, the stomach continues to digest food, and thousands of other chemical changes continue in our bodies unnoticed, all as the result of messages sent by our brain.

Brain stem compression can restrict or distort the transmission of these messages to the body. If this is not corrected, the long term effect is degeneration of that part of the body serviced by these restricted messages-causing mild to severe pain, lowered resistance to illness, organ dysfunction, loss of mobility in limbs and, ultimately-disease and untimely death.

Personal Interests

Dr. Brickner is married to Melissa. They have five children: Ethan, a sports enthusiast; Zoe, a dancer and entrepreneur; Eliana, a cosmetologist; Gideon, an up and coming general contractor; and Jeron, a potential chiropractor. The family lives in Springboro, where Dr. Brickner is involved in many church functions, attending children’s events and various speaking engagements.

Practice What You Preach

I am a firm believer in practicing what you preach, I get checked for the need for a spinal adjustment every month, My kids get checked almost every week (they fall more than I do!). I also believe in a balanced lifestyle of working, playing and praying, not necessarily in that order. My wife and I have five children, two of whom have been born at home and none of them vaccinated. Antibiotics for ear infections or sore throats is foreign to us, because in over 30 kid years we have never had the need to use antibiotics or prescription medication! Our family believes that a body that has a fully functioning nerve system, that is properly fed and loved and under the protection of our Heavenly Father is one that can maintain, heal and protect itself from the ills of the world.
